Port Vale youngster joins Sligo Rovers on loan

Port Vale have confirmed that 19-year-old wingback Jack Shorrock has gone on loan to Sligo Rovers. Shorrock, who holds the record as the club's youngest appearance maker and scorer, will be on loan until November, the end of the Irish season.

Shorrock has made 43 senior Vale appearances, scoring four goals, and has previously had loan spells at Chester and Stafford Rangers. He will join a Sligo Rovers team that sits bottom of the table after 25 games.

Sligo Rovers are managed by former Vale player Darren Purse, who has praised Shorrock's potential. 'He's only young, but he already has good experience for his age,' Purse said. 'He's probably at the stage of his career where he needs to take that next step.'

Shorrock is excited about the opportunity to join Sligo Rovers and develop as a player and person. 'I'm really happy to be here,' he said. 'It all came around quite quickly, but Sligo seems like a great place to live and to develop, not only as a player but as a person as well.'

League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 22nd in League One, 42 pts, 10W-12D-24L from 46 games, recent form LWLLD.
